TPO or Thermoplastic Olefin is a polypropylene based plastic with a soft polyurethane backing.
The TPO flakes are our version of a PVC granule. The flakes are flat rather than round as with standard PVC granules.
Because the flakes are flat they don't move around as much as standard PVC granules giving better footing within a surface.
The soft backing on the flakes helps to give the surface an energy return and allows a small quantity of moisture to be trapped within the flake to reduce dust.
The flake are used in our Turf Range waxed surfaces and are available to purchase separately for top ups of existing PVC based surfaces, and to enhance the performance of surfaces that have become dead to ride on. It can also aid the drainage on low quality sand surface by preventing the sand from compacting and becoming very hard.
The quantity of TPO required as a top up will depend on the type of surface you have.
As a guide we recommend approximately 3 - 4 Kg per M2 when added to new sand.

TPO should be used in conjunction with a fibre additive for new build surfaces to help bind the whole mix together. Our Economy fibre or Hair fibre can be used.
