This full service riding arena construction was for three generations of one family, all keen riders, who needed an economical, hard-wearing manege which they could use year-round with their various ponies and horses.
The 25 x 50 arena needed to withstand daily traffic for both flat work and jumping. We also needed to ensure, that whilst an arena care maintenance schedule is in place, that the arena shouldn’t require excessive harrowing – after all, it’s for the whole family to enjoy, not a daily chore that spoils everyones enjoyment.
Consulting with the family we delivered the entire construction on time and budget, this arena now carries our full ten year guarantee. We have developed our construction method over many years, and we know that what goes on underneath a surface is as important or more so than the sand and fibre on top. From the earthwork, to the membranes, base and drainage and timber we take personal pride in delivering a level, flat, free-draining arena that can withstand the very worst of British weather for many years.
As budget was a key consideration we advised on suitable surface materials that would still give excellent performance and resilience to the elements. We used a double-washed sand, together with our Trojan Gallop Fibre and Trojan Hair Fibre. Whilst this gives the arena a darker overall appearance, the washed sand means the surface avoids marking the horses, and the client has reported that there has been absolutely zero need for additional grooming.
